With some new ‘young team’ coming in this season, some of the other development squad players have been allowed to go on temporary transfers until January to other clubs in SPFL, East of Scotland League, and in the juniors.
Forwards Niyah Joseph (18) and Liam Scullion (18) have switched to Annan Athletic and Stenhousemuir respectively.
Midfielder Daryl Meikle (18) and forward Sean Slaven (18) have both gone to Linlithgow Rose in the East of Scotland Premier League.
Kyle Munro (17) who can play at full back and forward, has gone to his local club Clydebank in the juniors West Premiership.
Goalkeeper Ross Connelly (18) has gone to Benburb, also in the juniors West Premiership.
All the players were in our UEFA Youth League squad last season.
Daryl and Kyle both scored for their teams in matches earlier this week, while Liam has netted for Stenhousemuir in a friendly.
Academy Director George Cairns commented, “These lads are experienced having come through our youth set up, but they need more experience and game time, in addition to still being able to play for our reserves on Monday afternoons. We are grateful to all the teams for giving them ‘Saturday football’ and bringing them on as they further their professional careers.”
We also wish to recognise defender Taylor Wilson (18) who has left us after eight years coming through the youth academy set up here at NDP. Taylor was capped by Scotland at u15, u16, u17 and u18 levels whilst here and has had three seasons with the full time development squad. As a 14 year old he played in a reserve game for us at Tannadice, and he was also a member of the u17 title winning squad ltwo seasons ago. However, with new players coming in, Taylor has moved on to prepare for his next challenge elsewhere, and he goes with our thanks and very best wishes for the future.
