Dundee 4-0 Accies, 5th December

A hat trick from Kenny Miller saw Dundee defeat us 4-0 at Dens on Wednesday night.

Despite having plenty possession and chances, and looking lively and threatening throughout, it was defensive slips that saw us concede goals.

Matt Kilgallon missed out through injury from the weekend victory at Paisley and Tshiembe came into the side. Gary Woods also picked up an arm injury at training and missed out on the squad.

We began very much looking lively throughout much of the first half, always seeking to create opportunities and get shots in. Indeed, it was perhaps the liveliest we had looked in the opening period for some time. Over the piece though while we matched Dundee in possession and shots, it was to be defensive errors that saw us lose 4-0 with 38 year old Kenny Miller, who began the season as Livingston Manager, netting a hat trick.

Martin created an early chance for Keatings but saw his flick saved. Miller and Tshiembe then combined before Delph was booked in the 9th minute. McMann and Imrie combined well on the left while Brustad set up Martin in the 16th minute but his shot came off Mickel Miller.

Curran had a chance for Jim McIntyre’s side before Kenny Miller gave them the lead in the 26th minute, taking advantage of the ball not being properly cleared. Mucha then denied Dundee a second before chances fell to Imrie, McGowan, Miller, then Keatings came mighty close shortly before half time.

Into the second half and Keatings set up Brustad but he was tackled. Dundee doubled their lead in the 51st minute when Tshiembe’s clearance went as far as Kenny Miller who picked up the ball outside the box, strode forward and fired home. Keatings for us then Woods for Dundee traded shots, then Bingham, on for Brustad, fired over.

We brought on Steven Boyd in 67th minute but Dundee immediately increased their lead. Curran down the right cut in and his shot took a deflection and found its way past Mucha. Bingham had a couple of chances then a Keatings free kick threatened before it was cleared. However Dundee made it four in the 80th minute when another clearance went straight to Kenny Miller who swiftly took advantage for his hat trick.

Bingham had a good header saved in 89′ then McGowan had a shot in added time, but it lacked pace and went past the post.

In the end 4-0 Dundee, plenty shots and chances but poor defending cost us this one.
