The club have given away a number of tickets to local schools and youth groups via our friends at South Lanarkshire Leisure and with the tie finely balanced at 2-2 we anticipate a lot of interest in this fixture.
In the event of 2-2 after 90 minutes there will be no extra time, the game would go straight to penalties, otherwise away goals rule counts.
Our youngsters performed superbly over in Switzerland, with defender Adam Douglas netting twice for us. This is an exciting match for our whole academy to look forward to and Academy Director George Cairns commented, “This has been a great experience for us, from winning the u17s league last year undefeated, to entering this great competition, to experiencing UEFA rules and expectations, to then going to Switzerland and coming away from a match against an experienced team with a draw was invaluable for our lads, but equally we all know here they are more than capable of performing to their best against the best. We now have the second leg at Hamilton next Wednesday and I’d hope our fans will turn out for this one, and join our other academy players and parents and local boys and youth clubs and get right behind the youngsters.”
Coach Jason Scotland said, “This is a good squad of lads, who have worked hard and deserve to be where they are. and we are looking forward to this game. Let’s get a good crowd right behind us.”
