Miller and Brustad post St Mirren match

Accies website reporter Mark Gillespie spoke with Mickel Miller and Fredrik Brustad after Saturday’s win over St Mirren…

Great feeling to bang in a double?

MM: I’m delighted to get goals and help the team. We needed that today after the last few results, and hopefully it can help us turn things around this season now.

You played an important part in the opener as well, with a through ball for Steven Boyd?

MM: Threading through balls in isn’t normally me, but I’m delighted to add that to my game. Steven’s great to play alongside. He’s a smart player, and always plays on the shoulder, so you always know where he’s going to be.

That’s six for the season now. Have your targets changed now after a start like that?

MM: I’ll keep it slow and steady, and try and hit the teens. If I get there I’ll push on from there, but the main thing is to help the team.

As much as today was about the three points it was also a very satisfying performance?

MM: Everyone looked on it today. The gaffer said if the work rate’s there, and we stick to what he says, then everything will come together.

We need to push on now and continue what we’re doing, maintaining that composure. We need some consistency of performance, working hard for each other, starting with Dundee next week.

We’ve got good attacking options now, but how big a part can Kilgallon play with his experience?

MM: Massive. I think we’ve been missing someone like him. People forget we’re a young squad sometimes. With his experience you can see that he demands stuff from other people. There’s more competition for places now too. No one’s safe in their position, so everyone’s continuing to work harder.

Great feeling to get your first goal for the club?

Fredrik Brustad: It’s always good to get that first goal and get off the mark. It was a good win for us

How are you finding the game here compared to that in Norway?

FB: Everything is different, but we have a great bunch of lads and we’re starting now to get to know each other on and off the pitch.

Your goal came at  an important time and got our noses in front?

FB: Yes, we played with more confidence after that. We did well, for almost the whole game. It was good to get the first and contribute to a good performance

A result to kickstart the season from now?

FB: Yes, there’s no reason not to expect three points next game too. Especially when we play like we did today.

It was a great atmosphere and support throughout the game. The team loved it and responded well to the fans’ support.
