David McParland

Hamilton Academical Football Club are deeply saddened at the loss of our former Manager David McParland who passed away on Saturday 14th July at the age of 83.

The thoughts of everyone associated with Hamilton Academical FC are with David’s family and friends and we offer our heartfelt condolences at this difficult time.

Davie was appointed Manager at Douglas Park in June 1978 and remained in post until October 1982.

He led Accies to the League Cup semi-final in 1979 on a run which included victories over Clydebank, St.Mirren and Dundee before succumbing to defeat by eventual winners Dundee United.

It was not only in the dugout where Davie made an impact at Hamilton Accies. Davie was a great source of help and encouragement for Ronnie MacDonald when he took ownership of the club in 2003. Ronnie and the Directors will always be grateful and appreciative of Davie’s support and kindness at that time.

Davie’s significant contribution to life and success, on and off the pitch, at Hamilton Academical Football Club will never be forgotten.
