We are saddened to learn of the recent passing of two members of the Accies family.
Long standing supporter Duncan Fleming sadly passed away aged 82 on 12th July. He had been a regular at the Accies as long as this writer can remember, and was also a frequent visitor in midweek to the stadium, keeping some of the reception and stadium staff fed with a regular supply of biscuits and chocolates! Duncan was a friendly chap who took great pleasure from supporting the club and was a regular shirt sponsor each season also. His funeral took place today (Wednesday 25th), and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.
Former striker Allan Thomson was a prolific striker with Accies in the late 1960s, scoring 47 goals in 85 league games for us between 1966 and 1969. Allan was a renowned schoolboy footballer, netting twice in Scotland schoolboys 4-3 win over England at Ibrox in 1962, which lead to him joining Rangers. He then dropped down into the Glasgow Churches League with Netherlee before coming to Douglas Park for three seasons. He later moved to Albion Rovers then Pollok, before his job, he was a senior chartered accountant, took him abroad and he played in Switzerland for Servette Geneva and in France for Racing Club Paris.
He sadly passed away in Birmingham at the weekend and, again, our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.
