Interviewer Mark Gillespie caught up with Danny Redmond & Darian MacKinnon at East End Park after Saturday’s game.
ACCIES v DUNFERMLINE INTERVIEWS 11/2/17
Talk me through your goal. Fantastic finish?
DANNY REDMOND:“ Yes, the ball came back out, and I just cut inside and got a shot across the goal. 9 times out of 10 people block it and it goes out of play. Thankfully this time it was on target and found its way in.”
It got the team out of jail, Overall thoughts on the game?
DR:“We knew the game was going to be a battle. The pitch wasn’t the best and the weather didn’t help, but we’ve got a set of lads in there who stick together and we were good enough to get the draw and a replay.”
Traditional cup tie in many ways?
DR:“These are the games you relish. We battle when we need to and we play when we need to. We’ve got to take that into Tuesday now and hopefully use our pitch to our advantage. We take each game as it comes and we’re happy just still to be in the cup and move on.”
An even game. Fair result?
DARIAN MCKINNON: “Perhaps it was, but we’re a bit disappointed we never took a couple of good chances at the start and in the second half, and we got punished. We eventually got our goal and we’ll go again on Tuesday.”
What turned the game around? Team seemed to come onto more of a game latter second half?
DM: “The manager addressed it at half time. We were just sitting too deep down the one flank and that’s where Dunfermline were getting all their joy. So we addressed that and albeit we made a few mistakes that nearly let them in for another. But I think we were better in the second half.”
You could even have been the hero with your last minute shot?
DM: “Yes it was almost the last kick of the ball and I just decided to have a go at the edge of the box and credit to the keeper who made a good a good save.”
No worries about extra fixtures mounting up given the replay?
DM:“None at all. We’ll go again. If we weren’t playing we’d be training. Hopefully we can move the ball against them a wee bit quicker on our own pitch too, so we’re looking forward to the replay.”
