Accies Round Up – 9th January

Defender Ben Reilly, 19, who has had two separate spells in our youth set up, in between a spell at Rangers, and progressed through into the u20s, has been released.  A pacy full back, he has been allowed to go in order to seek opportunity elsewhere.

Goalkeeper Remi Matthews has returned to us after undergoing his rehab back at Norwich City. Remi sustained a shoulder injury here against Inverness CT back on 1st October. Remi returned to Norfolk for rehab, where his shoulder healed naturally in time, but also took the opportunity to have a groin operaton on an outstanding niggling injury whilst he was out anyway.

Midfield attacker Steven Boyd, 19, has returned from his loan spell at Albion Rovers, and 17 year old Conor Scullion has likewise ended his loan spell at Airdrieonians. Conor is likely to go elsewhere in the second half of the season on loan.

Greg Docherty underwent a foot operation on Christmas Eve, remains on crutches, and is likely to be out for about two months in total after being injured v Rangers.

Former defender Antons Kurakins, who left us in August, has returned to Latvia and has signed for FC Riga. With their season having ended in October, Antons’ international clearance was only sought by his new club today and the Scottish FA have granted clearance in time for their new season.

Our u20s are the next Accies side in action, playing a rearranged game against Hearts next Monday, 16th January. The game is at Stenhousemuir’s Ochilview Park at 7.30pm.

Our next first team game is William Hill Scottish Cup R4 away to Kilmarnock. This game is at Rugby Park on Saturday 21st January, 3pm.

Our next first team Ladbrokes Premiership match is away to St Johnstone on Saturday 28th January, 3pm at McDiarmid Park.

Suspensions – Dougie Imrie and Scott McMann are now free of suspension having sat out our last game v Motherwell. However, three players recently picked up their 6th league cautions and will all miss 1 game as follows – Massimo Donati from 7/1; Michael Devlin from 10/1; Georgios Sarris from 14/1, which means they all miss the league game at St Johnstone.

Accies popular after school kids community coaching resumes today, and will run on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 4.30pm-6pm here at The SuperSeal. Please contact George Cairns george@acciesfc.co.uk for information or simply turn up and register at the front door reception on the day.

Reminder – the home Ladbrokes Premiership match v Aberdeen, which was down for Wednesday 1st March, will now be Tuesday 28th February, live on BT Sport, 7.45pm.
