Our development league side won 3-1 against St Mirren at the Paisley2021 Stadium on Tuesday night (27th September).
Martin Canning played, while there was a first appearance for new ‘keeper Darren Jamieson who capped his debut with a fine late penalty save.
Danny Redmond was behind much of the early play and pressure and it was from his blocked shot that Ross Cunningham slammed home the rebound to give us an 18th minute lead. Cunningham, Bingham and Quitongo all texted the Saints keeper before Ryan Tierney doubled our lead in the 48th minute, with a curled angled drive from the left edge of the penalty area. A nice goal. We made it 3-0 in the 55th minute when great work by Jack Breslin down the right saw Rakish Bingham tap home his low cross.
Goal of the game came in the 79th minute when Saints’ Conor O’Keefe netted with a well taken effort to reduce the leeway. The home side then got a penalty when McLear was fouled but Darren Jamieson saved well from Kalvin Orsi in the 82nd minute. That was it and 3-1 Accies.
Accies: Jamieson, Breslin, Quitongo, Want (c), Canning (J Boyd 70), Hughes, Smith, Cunningham, Tierney (Kelly 64), Redmond, Bingham (Henry 78 ). Unused subs – O’Halloran, S Connelly, R Connelly.
