Our u17s have been invited to take part in an international youth tournament in Northern France next month.
The tournament, in it’s 26th year, is organised by the local club Gonfreville L’Orcher in Normandy and features a number of top division sides from around Europe, including Leicester City, as well as the local side.
Den Haag (Netherlands), Le Havre (France), Senica (Slovakia), Clermont Ferrand (France), Leicester City (England), Guingamp (France), Accies and local side Gonfreville L’Orcher.
All matches are played over weekend of 14-16 May and are of 40 minutes duration, with final 50 minutes. Each team will play five games over the three days. The group draw has still to take place.
Head of Youth Academy George Cairns commented, “This is a great tournament for our u17s to take part in and will be really good for the players’ development and to experience playing against sides from other cultures and backgrounds. The Slovakian team in particular are regular performers in many top European youth tournaments and beat the Scottish u20 international side a couple of years ago which our former player Stephen Hendrie played in. We were delighted to be invited and I look forward to seeing how our academy players perform.”
