u20s lose to Dunfermline

Our u20s lost 3-2 at home to Dunfermline Athletic at NDP on Tuesday night in the SPFL Development League.

We finished the game with nine men and it was while with nine for the last couple of minutes that we lost the third goal.

With a young team out, Boyd and Want suspended, Alan Martin injured, and the entire bench being u16s and u17s, we lead 2-1 before losing. from the first team Ali Crawford and Danny Redmond played as well as Garcia Tena. We took the lead in the 25th minute when a lovely 30+ yarder dipping shot from Jesus Garcia Tena put us ahead. The Pars were awarded a penalty just four minutes later when Colin Granger was ajudged to have fouled on the edge of the area and Dunfermline’s trialist, former Hearts player Scott Robinson, levelled from the spot. Ross Cunningham hit the post for us just before half time. We took the lead in the 53rd minute. Marc Kelly and Ross Cunningham had good shots saved by the keeper before the final rebound broke to Ryan Tierney who made no mistake and made it 2-1. Dunfermline equalised three minutes later when a cross came in from the left and Crossan netted high into the net. Jesus Garcia Tena picked up a yellow card just after the hour mark and was replaced a minute later by young Scott Granger who came on to partner his older brother Colin in the centre of defence. However the brothers partnership lasted just six minutes before Scott was red carded for denying a clear or obvious goalscoring opportunity and we were down to 10 men. Another defensive change and Colin Granger was onto his third central defensive partner inside just seven minutes. Pars had a shot which shaved the post in 81 minutes, before we went down to nine men when Rico Quitongo limped off injured in the 89th minute and all subs had been used. However Dunfermline then netted the winner in 90+1′ when Shaun Byrne netted.

Accies – Marshall, Reilly, Quitongo (ret’d inj 89), Garcia Tena (S Granger 62), C Granger, Hughes, Cunningham, Redmond, Tierney, Crawford (C Scullion 67), Kelly (O’Halloran 69) subs unused Ferguson, S Connelly, Henry, McCracken. Referee Craig Napier. Att: 144
