Anderson Insists Personal Accolades Would Not Be Possible Without Teammates
Accies women’s captain Amy Anderson insists her personal success would not be possible without her Accies teammates. The midfielder spoke after she was presented with the SWPL Player of The Month award for November.
She said: “It means a great deal to be recognised for this award and it is also a reflection on how good my teammates have been at Hamilton.”
Anderson is no stranger to the Player of the Month accolade having previously picked up the award in October 2017. The midfielder proved a worthy winner as she scored one and assisted two other goals in two games during the month.
Anderson also took the time to thank the fans who took the time to vote for her. She said: “I’m really pleased to win the award and a massive thank you to everyone who voted for me.”
The Accies captain also took time out to reflect on the SWPL 2 campaign as a whole, a month after it’s season end.
She said: “It was a disappointing season, we worked very hard to be in with a chance of promotion but ultimately it didn’t happen.
As a team we know we must improve, our away form, in particular, we need to get into the habit of grinding out results when we aren’t playing well, that is what let us down last campaign.”
Despite the SWPL season ending just last month, Anderson revealed the preparation is already underway for next season. She said: “We will be doing everything we can next year to make things right. We have a talented squad, brilliant staff and we have already started work and recruitment for 2020.”
The Women’s side gets their SWPL 2 season underway at home against Stirling University on Saturday 23rd February. Kick-off 2 pm.
