Lewis Smith & Jamie Hamilton have put pen-to-paper on two new deals that will see them remain at the club until Summer 2022.
The Accies-Academy graduates have come through almost every level of the pathway here at Hamilton and now find themselves in Brian Rice’s first team.
The pair have had recent international call-ups to Scotland u19 & u21 levels as well as their first-team breakthroughs this season. Academy director George Cairns said: “This is what it’s all about here at Hamilton, we’re securing the futures of our home-grown talent. Lewis and Jamie are two boys I knew had it in them to play at this level and to be fair they’ve taken the chances given to them.
The hard work begins now for the lads as they’re on a bigger radar and must show everyone they can consistantly play first-team football. What’s even better about this good news is the fact this will inspire the younger age groups in the academy and shows them the pathway is clearly there to be taken.
Speaking to the clubs website Smith said: “I’m really happy to commit my future to the club I support. It’s a credit to the coaches and everyone involved really, I’m just thankful to George and everyone that’s been there for me.”
Jamie Hamilton said: “I’m very grateful to the club for believing in me it’s now up to me to kick on and repay them with performances now. It’s been a brilliant few months for me playing Premiership football and I’m loving every bit of it.”
Both prospects are likely to be part of Brian Rice’s 18-man squad today that take on Rangers at 12:15 pm on BT Sport.
