Hamilton Academical Football Club can confirm that, following the departure of John Rankin, the Club has taken decisive and immediate action to reinforce leadership stability and maintain continuity across all First Team operations.
Effective immediately, Darian MacKinnon will assume responsibility for all First Team Football Management duties. Darian’s leadership qualities, commitment to the Club, and deep understanding of our footballing structure ensure stability at a critical time.
To further support this transition, Scott Leitch will join the First Team coaching staff with immediate effect. Scott brings extensive experience within Scottish football and will work closely with Darian to maintain professional standards in team preparation, performance, and day-to-day operations.
This interim structure has been implemented to provide clarity and reassurance to all stakeholders that the Club remains fully operational, strategically aligned, and focused on football performance whilst a wider review is undertaken.
The Board would like to directly address our supporters. The Board recognise that many recent events have caused concern and uncertainty, and for that, we sincerely apologise. Your commitment to Hamilton Academical – through every high and low – is the foundation of this Club. The Board want to reassure all supporters that every decision being made is with the long-term interest of the Club at heart.
The Board remain absolutely committed to restoring stability and protecting the future of Hamilton Academical FC.
As the custodian of a 151-year history, the Board take seriously the responsibility to safeguard the values and identity of this Club for the generations to come.
Further updates will be provided when appropriate.
