Last night we agreed terms for the permanent transfer of Michael to Aberdeen Football Club.
Michael was free to sign a pre-contract with another Club but was keen that the Accies received a transfer fee towards the costs of his development and medical expenses.
The contractual position was complicated by Michael’s long term injury and his ongoing recovery.
Aberdeen have worked with us to find a solution and we attained the settlement we aspired to.
Michael progressed from the Academy, to his first team debut at 16 and then as our captain.
Michael has been excellent in every respect and we believe he would have been a Scotland regular by now if he hadn’t suffered with injury.
As with all our boys, we are saddened to see them move on but they are professional footballers and have their financial futures to secure.
We hope to see Michael return often to see us all and wish him the very best of luck.
