Jim Bryson Obituary

We were saddened to learn of the passing on Saturday night (30th December) of long standing Accies fan Jim Bryson, who was 89.

Jim was a regular attender until a few seasons ago but was one of our main matchday helpers and club stewards for around 40 years, and had been attending games longer than that.

Along with the late Willie McInnes and the late Tom Reid, along with Arthur Johnson and Willie Roberts (who is still helping at the ground daily and in ticket office on matchdays), Jim was part of a group who carried out many thankless tasks behind the scenes during the week and on matchdays, At old Douglas Park he would help out around the ground, in the boardroom and in the social club under the stand, but was well known to all referees for about 30 years as, back in the day when the match officials got a whisky and pint after the game, it was always Jim who took in their order.

Along with his son and grandsons, who are still attending now, he was a regular at home and away games for countless years.

During our seven years homeless he still helped out at home games at Firhill and Cliftonhill, and once we had moved to New Douglas Park, he would hand out the teamsheets in the media and hospitality areas, right up until a few seasons ago.

Unfortunately, his health hadn’t been the best in recent years and he stopped attending, however he is fondly remembered.

Jim’s funeral is on Wednesday 10th January, 1.15pm at South Lanarkshire Crematorium, High Blantyre

Our thoughts are with his family at this time.
