Web reporter Mark Gillespie caught up with Greg Docherty after Saturday’s win at Motherwell – only our fourth post WW2 league win at Fir Park
“It’s been a long time coming for me,” Docherty said. “I think I should be doing more, by using my strength. The gaffer just told me today that when I get the chance just get into the box and drill it across goal. It was a great feeling when it went in.”
“I started the season well, contributing at the top end of the pitch, but things haven’t gone for me in those areas lately. I’ve been contributing defensively but for me to contribute up top is brilliant today.”
“It was great too as that goal kind of knocked the stuffing out of Motherwell. Apart from a two minute spell in the 90th minute when the ball was bouncing around our box, I thought we were comfortable. To come here, go a goal down, and then win 3-1 is a great credit to the boys.”
“We haven’t performed well in the derbies of late, so for us to get three points here is a massive statement. You could see by the celebrations what it meant to the fans. It’s always a really good atmosphere here, and it’s nice when you can get the away fans behind the goal like that, particularly when you score.
