Our u20s recorded a 4-2 win over Falkirk in the Scottish FA Youth Cup 3rd round at NDP on Sunday afternoon (29th October).
Missing the suspended Jamie Boyd and Taylor Wilson, who was travelling back from Estonia with Scotland u17s, we scored early in each half, before being pegged back level, but then went on to win with some conviction.
Barely 100 seconds on the clock and Marc Kelly fired us into an early lead, turning home young Leon McCann’s cross. Lewis Ferguson was denied soon after before the bairns had a couple of chances then O’Hara levelled in the 19th minute, firing past Marshall.
15 seconds into the second half Ross Cuningham finished well to restore our lead but Reis Peggie netted from eight yards in the 51st minute t level at 2-2.
Five minutes later we were back in front, Kelly crossing from the right for Ryan Tierney to do what he does best. 3-2 Accies. Ferguson, Tierney and Danny O’Halloran all had chances, while Falkirk remained dangerous. Good defending by Hughes and Douglas at times kept them at bay before Falkirk went down to 10 men in the 75th minute when Jonathan Mitchell went for a foul on Kelly, and it was his second booking.
A minute later we extended our lead when Kelly’s shot was palmed out but Cunningham slotted home his second of the game.
We now await the 4th round draw.
