Hamilton Academical FC Accept Invite To Participate in Holyrood Policy Briefing

In what can be described as the most crucial step forward in delivering one of our many important community goals, the Club have accepted an invitation from the Scottish Parliament at Holyrood to attend their forthcoming policy briefing, to share best practice for consideration in Scotland’s approach to drugs; reducing harm and risk.

Underpinning our community outreach engagement in the field of addiction and recovery along with the Club’s overall unyielding efforts in highlighting this, representatives from our Club and the Community Trust (our charitable arm) have been asked to participate in the Scottish Parliament’s Policy Briefing “Scotland’s Approach to Drugs: Reducing Harm and Risk” on Tuesday 5th December 2017.

One of the key objectives we aim to deliver is to share our Best Practice. This is currently evidenced within our effective multi-tier approach, which spans almost a decade, we support those in recovery, their children and families. All of whom suffer in the shadow of addiction.

Now it is time; for Scotland to recognise and acknowledge that the community aspect, historically associated with Football Clubs, have the power to not only identify and help reduce the wrath of addiction and it’s devastating impact within our local communities but as is reflected in our work undertaken, this engagement is fundamental in creating a credible and valued approach, recognised by the Scottish Government as pivotal in helping to shape the future of Scotland’s policies and to address these issues for generations to come..
