Reporter Mark Gillespie got Dougie’s post match thoughts after Saturday’s home draw with the Dingwall side
After another gutsy performance from Hamilton midfield dynamo Dougie Imrie, he gave his thoughts on the game, after receiving attention to stitches in the bottom of his foot, saying, “It was a hard one today for us and a hard one to take. It’s another point and we move up another place, so for us its good, but overall I think that we’re disappointed not to take three points having put so much into the game. The sending off was a bit harsh for me and wasn’t a sending off. I think it was a quick decision, we were on the halfway line and the boy has just tried to get out of the way. He’s caught him but it wasn’t a sending off.
“We played really well, their ‘keeper has made a fantastic save from Alex D’Acol at the top corner, but I thought over the full game we were excellent. I’m just disappointed that their goal came initially from a free kick. Michael Devlin is two yards from the ball and gets struck on the side, then a hand ball is given. The referee says that his hands are up, but what is he meant to do from two yards, it’s not even hit his hand and comes off his side.
“The decisions today have gone against us, we’ll just have to pick ourselves up and dig in. That’s two games in a row where we’ve been down to ten men, the effort that the boys have put in today has been magnificent, and that’s what we’ve got to do from now until the end of the season to keep us in the league.”
“I tried to put one in at the top corner towards the end, with a little bit more composure Scott was in a great position, and the wee cut back for Eamonn and he has a tap in and tried to score. And Alex was through one on one and does well to cut back in, a bit of composure there and he might have hit a corner or if he kept it low, may have got a chance. They put us under pressure in the second half, but the performance from the lads was excellent but disappointed that some of the decisions didn’t go our way.”
