Reporter Martin McConnell caught up with midfielder Greg Docherty after Wednesday’s game
Accies midfielder Greg Docherty thought Accies deserved their point, “I thought it was a fair result tonight, both sides had some decent chances. It was a difficult game to play in and very scrappy at times, but a point away from home to our rivals is a bit of a result considering we finished the game with ten men. So, a point on the board at any time is good for us.
“It’s good to see us create some good chances up front. Darian and Rakish both went close and Alex struck the post We defended our box well and it’s good to see that, somehow, we’ve shut down of late and it’s just good to see us defend that well. Considering the goals we’ve shipped recently, that’s what we need to see from our centre backs throughout the game.”
Looking forward to the Ross County match, he said, “If we win on Saturday, then that’s takes us up to seventh possibly, so the game against Ross County is even bigger than we ever imagined. But saying that, every game is now massive for us and we need start putting the points on the board, so it’s probably a good thing that we’ve got the big sides out of the way.
“A win for us on Saturday would breed confidence, us getting that last-minute goal on Saturday was huge for the team. Obviously, circumstances ruined the game a wee bit, but we dug in and kept going. Alex has been great again tonight for us, its brilliant to have him back as he looks sharp and he’ll be crucial for us in the run in.”
Ross County have had a good result again, they got a last-minute penalty but again they’ve got a few injuries, so that might knock them a wee bit too. You’ve just got to go into the game with what you’ve set out to do, practice can go out of the window a bit now, it’s all about us and that’s just how it’s got to be.”
