Web reporter Mark Gillespie caught up with Darian macKinnon after Saturday’s match at Firhill
Darian MacKinnon Post Match
After the disappointing 2-0 defeat at Firhill, Hamilton remain second from bottom and now just two points ahead of Caley Thistle after the Inverness side earned a creditable 1-1 draw with Hearts.
Accies midfielder Darian MacKinnon wasn’t happy with the performance and said, “It’s disappointing that we lost two goals and I think when we realise that we’re not going to win a game, you’d take the draw and move on. But it’s just so disappointing to lose the exact same goal from the same position twice in such a short space of time.”
“I know that the manager felt that the midweek match against Dunfermline had an effect on us but I felt fine. But obviously, I can’t speak for any of the other players in the side so I’m not 100% sure about that. I think we can’t use that as an excuse though, as it’s only 120 minutes of football and compared to the usual 90 minutes it’s not that different for me and leaves no room for excuses.”
When asked if he feared a points gap opening up with the clubs above Accies ahead of tough matches against Celtic, Hearts and Rangers, he said, “I wouldn’t say that there is a fear, we don’t fear any side in this league to be honest with you. On our day I think that we can beat anyone, and we’ll stay confident because that’s what we do.
He then added, “Of course if we didn’t believe we could do it we’d be as well telling the gaffer to let us go the now, but we won’t because we’re not like that. We’ll go into training and work really hard as we always do no matter the result and just stick together, regroup and go again in a week’s time.
