We would like to take this time to show our appreciation for the club’s longest-serving sponsor Equi’s Ice Cream. As an organisation, they have shown unwavering support for the players in red and white for nearly 100 years.
Alongside their sponsorship, Mr David Equi (himself an Accies fan) has been a season ticket holder with the club for 47 years.
Speaking on his affiliation and love for the club, David said: “I remember coming along to an open day at the old ground in 1975. I had never been to an Accies game before, my aunt Ann brought me along knowing my love for football.
“As it turned out, she knew the photographer from the local paper at the time and I ended up getting a picture taken with Ted McDougall, one of the great players of that time, which I still have to this day.
“From that day, I started to come along to the ground more and more. I enjoyed collecting autographs from the players at that time. I was also coming along to games, and I have been a season ticket holder with the club ever since.
“I remember my grandfather also had a soft spot for the Accies and I am sure he sponsored the stand at the old ground. I still have memorabilia from that time when we sponsored in programmes and things like that.”
In paying tribute to David Equi and his business, Commercial Director Colin McGowan added:
“The story of David’s support for this club is a magnificent one. A club like ours is as strong as those who support it and in David, we have a magnificent supporter and sponsor.
“To be approaching 100 years of sponsorship is a magnificent commitment that we have been really fortunate to have. Relationships built like these are partly what makes this club so special.
“I look forward to catching up with David at Saturday’s match against Raith Rovers.”
