Hamilton Academical FC are thrilled to announce the signing of experienced full-back Michael Doyle following a successful trial period with the club.
The former Queen’s Park and Morton defender has worked closely with the squad since their return for pre-season and taken part in a range of our pre-season friendlies.
The 30-year-old spent a period in the Accies academy during his earlier career and spoke of his delight at returning to the club.
He said: “I am delighted to be here. This is where it all started for me, and I have always kept a close eye on the club’s results now I am back here again.
“The changing room is fantastic. I am really looking forward to being part of that and doing what I can to help this team in the season ahead.”
After securing his second signing of the window, Head Coach John Rankin believes the capture of Doyle provides the whole squad with a lift ahead of our return to competitive action.
He said: “Michael is a fantastic signing for this football club. He is a great leader to have in our dressing room and will be a huge asset for the squad’s younger players to learn from.
“He is a fantastic defender with a wealth of experience, and we have been really impressed with his fitness levels from the first day of pre-season.”
Following the capture of Jonny Ngandu earlier this week Doyle could also be set to make his competitive debut on Saturday against Dundee.
