Goalkeeper Joe Hilton has expressed his appreciation towards his time at Accies so far, especially throughout his injury which saw him out of the game for eight weeks.
He said: “Hamilton are giving me the best opportunity to move forward in my career and I enjoy the atmosphere here at the club and in the changing rooms so staying up here during my rehab for my injury was the best choice for me.
“Playing at Accies has been massive for me getting out and playing games here, getting the game experience and meeting all the people and it’s been so helpful for my career.”
He also noted the success within the club this season, and how he is hoping for a positive end to the season in the last two remaining games.
He said: “The standard in this squad is very high and we’ve taken the time to get used to changes and the new environment and I think that in the second half of the season we’ve shown we’ve made those positive changes and we’ve gotten results out of it.
“Over the course of the season the clubs performance has improved and I think the next step is to just push forward and finish the season as high up the table as possible.”
Speaking ahead of today’s game against Raith Rovers he notes that it will be a difficult one for the Accies side but they are pushing for the win to end the season on a high.
He said: “We just want to end the season as strong as we can and as high up on the table as we can, and we know they’re (Raith Rovers) going to be right on it but we’re going to play the game and try and get the result we want.”
Hilton, on loan from Blackburn Rovers, expressed his enjoyment at playing football in Scotland and believes he has developed well as a player during his time at the club.
He said: “Scottish football is at a good standard and I enjoy playing here, it’s everything that a young goalkeeper would want on loan and getting games and exposure, it’s been tough but I’ve enjoyed the challenge.”
