Stuart Taylor’s Accies side were on their travels again as they took on Greenock Morton in the cinch Championship. In the opposition dugout was Accies legend Dougie Imrie who’s Morton side sat one place above Accies as the game got underway.

First Half

Accies kicked us off, as Stuart Taylor’s side looked to bounce back from their narrow defeat to Arbroath at NDP in the previous week. It was a start which showed clear Accies intentions as they seeked to gain an advantage in the opening exchanges.

Andy Ryan had an ambitious left-footed effort saved by the Morton keeper. However, he was only able to divert it into the path of David Moyo who made it 1-0 to Accies in the 6th minute.

However, motivated by the opening exchanges Morton worked hard to carve their way back into the match

Gozie Ugwu’s flick on fell to the feet of Gavin Reilly who advanced beyond the defensive clatter to glance his shot wide of an empty Accies goal in the 10th minute.

It was Accies who would register the next opportunity of the match on 22 minutes. Bravery from Andy Winter saw him advance on through 1v1 with the Morton ‘keeper. However, his effort went just over the crossbar on 22 minutes.

Clearly Motivated by the earlier chance Andy Winter was played through by David Moyo who again closed in on the Morton goal. However, his effort would be saved on 26 minutes.

Accies found a foothold in the half with 15 minutes remaining until the break. Gavin Reilly fouled Andy Ryan, earning Accies the free kick in a dangerous position. However, it was fired over the cross bar.

As the game approached the 40 minute mark an attack along Accies’ left flank, saw Robbie Muirhead work a shooting opportunity. However, a deflection was enough to see this over the bar.

(HT: 0-1)

Second Half

Scott Martin replaced Andy Ryan ahead of the second half, which Dougie Imrie’s side would kick off in search of an equaliser.

It was the home side who worked the first opportunity of the second half. Robbie Muirhead’s half-volley was saved well by Fulton who stopped the goalward effort.

Any action between either side soon ceased as it became a tight contest for both sides.

Scott Martin entered the book for Accies after fouling Oisin McEntee in the 67th minute.

Lewis Spence would be fouled by Jamie Brandon in the 71st minute to earn Accies a free kick in an advantageous position on the edge of Morton’s box. Steve Lawson’s ensuing shot went just over Hamilton in goal, as Accies almost doubled their lead heading into the last 15 minutes.

Jamie Hamilton was forced off through injury, coming off for Josh Mullin in the 76th minute.

A Kieran MacDonald cross on 78 minutes found Mihai Popescu with sapce in the box. However, his effort was cleared after a goalmouth scramble.

However, this would be the final real action of the match as it ended 1-0 to Accies.
