The club is delighted to announce it has reached an agreement with Raith Rovers for the transfer of defender Kieran MacDonald for an undisclosed fee.
Kieran is no stranger to the club having previously made eight appearances for Accies before spells with Dumbarton, East Fife, Airdrie and most recently Raith Rovers.
The 27-year-old was recognised for his stand-out performances last season through his inclusion in the SPFL’s Championship Team of the Season.
The club understands the importance of Kieran’s career out with football and we are pleased to reach an agreement that will allow him to continue in this career.
Speaking exclusively to the club’s website MacDonald said: “I am delighted to have signed for the club, having spoken with the chairman and the gaffer I am looking forward to the challenge of next season.
“As a side who have just been relegated, we have a point to prove. Coming in there is strong competition for places and the gaffer has made it clear exactly what he expects from me. I am really looking forward to meeting up with the boys during pre-season and proving my quality to the coaches and hopefully we can have a good season with the aim of getting the club back up.”
Head Coach Brian Rice said: “We are delighted to add Kieran to the squad for next season. He is a very talented player who has shown his quality in this division over the last two seasons. I have watched him play on a number of occasions and I have been impressed with his quality at both ends of the pitch. He joins us as one of the more experienced lads in the squad and having played in the lower leagues in Scotland I think his experience will be beneficial to all the lads.
“Ever since we heard he would be available he has been one of our top targets and I am delighted to have him with us. I think credit must go to the board for being able to bring him back to the club.”
With under a month until our first competitive match against Edinburgh City in the Premier Sports Cup MacDonald and his team mates will be looking to start the season strongly ahead of the Championship campaign.
