Hamilton Academical FC is pleased to announce academy prospect Marley Redfern has agreed a two-year contract extension with the club.
The extension will see Redfern remain at the club until at least the end of the 2022/23 season.
The 18 year old spent the first half of this season on loan to East of Scotland League side Blackburn United. However, Covid-19 restrictions saw this loan come to an end and since the end of January Redfern has been a part of the first-team squad.
Speaking to the club’s website Redfern said: “It’s great to know the coaches here think that highly of you. Recently I have been back and trying as hard as I can to impress them.
“I have to keep working hard now. I am pleased to have this extension but I have to keep pushing myself to improve every day. The current restrictions gave me an opportunity to come in and learn and I need to make sure I keep taking these opportunities when they come.
“George, Dougie, the gaffer and Beuzy have all been fantastic for me. As a player it’s been brilliant to work with these guys.”
Academy Director George Cairns said: “It is fantastic to have Marley a part of the team here for another two years. The last 12 months have been extremely difficult for all young players but credit to Marley he has overcome any challenge he has faced and he is a better player for that.
“I think the experience of the last year will give him the motivation to keep going and working hard to improve himself in every training session.”
