Defender Jamie Hamilton is delighted with his side’s strong performance during their 1-1 draw with Rangers.
Hamilton said: “Our team performance today was excellent. We pressed from the front. At times we went man for man with their front line and did very well.
“We were happy to get the point but myself and the lads are a bit disappointed to not come away with the win.”
The Academy graduate, who enjoyed one of his best performances in an Accies shirt, has revealed his hunger to maintain this level of performance.
He said: “I am happy with my performance today, but I can’t just stop there. That can’t be it, I want to bring the positives from today into more games starting with Livingston on Wednesday.”
With recent performances receiving rave reviews from Head Coach Brian Rice the young defender remains focused on improving his game.
He said: “Obviously its good to get the praise from the gaffer. It is something you will always be happy with, but it can’t stop there.
“I can’t stop just because the gaffer is praising me, it is brilliant to hear but I have to carry it on and keep growing as a player.”
Hamilton believes going a goal behind gave the side an added motivation to take something away from the match.
He said: “It didn’t help us [going a goal behind] but it gave us that extra push to get something from the game.
“We didn’t stop trying, that shows you what we are all about. We didn’t give up, we never give up and it was excellent from the boys to get a last minute equaliser.”
The 18-year-old believes our win against Rangers last season gave the squad added confidence going into the match.
He said: “We knew we could get something from the game. Last season we won at Ibrox so we know we can do it. That gave us a bit of confidence and that showed on the pitch.”
Hamilton believes the positives from this result can be carried on through the remainder of the season.
He said: “Going up against top of the league taking a point and performing as we did gives us confidence. If we keep turning in performances like that the results will come.”
With two matches in the next seven days Hamilton believes Accies have an opportunity to capitalise on the positives from today.
He said: “We are looking to take the performance from today into Wednesday. We have the confidence to do the same on Wednesday.
“Livingston are a good side, who are in a good run of form, it will be a tough game but if we play like we did here there is no reason why we can’t come away with a good result.
