Jamie Hamilton believes clean sheets give the side something to build upon

Defender Jamie Hamilton believes Accies strong defence in recent matches has given the side a positive to build on ahead of our upcoming fixtures.

Hamilton said: “Although we didn’t win the game on Saturday we came away with a clean sheet. This gives us something to build on. As a team we want to keep a clean sheet in every game we play in. Recently we have managed to do that.

“We were unfortunate going forward, we created a few chances and weren’t able to take them, but we got in the right positions and did well in attack, so we just have to keep working away at that.”

The 18-year-old believes this defensive solidity which Accies have created remains intact regardless of any changes in personnel.

He said: “We feel like no matter who comes in or drops out we are a hard team to break down. That is fantastic for us.

“We don’t want to concede and getting these clean sheets gives us the confidence to stop that from happening.”

The Accies Academy graduate believes playing alongside fellow academy graduate Brian Easton and Aaron Martin has helped him improve his game.

He said: “Playing alongside Aaron and Easty has helped me a lot, the experience they have got is different class. During a game they are always talking to me, helping me through games which gives me a lot of confidence.

“When I have the ball, I want to make something happen with it and get the team on the front foot I was able to do that. They were always communicating about knowing the right time to bring the ball forward and I think that understanding has helped me massively.”

Hamilton also believes playing alongside these players has allowed him to identify areas of improvement in his game.

The defender said: “Although I felt I did well in the game there are areas I still want to improve. There was a couple of times I felt my positioning could have been better.

“That is something I need to learn from and being able to work with players like these in training will help me do that.”

With just over a week until our next fixture against Celtic Hamilton believes the small break allows the team to work hard and improve ahead of our visit to Glasgow.

He said: “The break allows us to get out and train hard, we have to keep our heads down and keep focused. When the game comes we will be prepared and ready to go.

“The clean sheet against Dundee United gives us confidence going into the game. We want to get another clean sheet and take the three points away.”
