Head Coach Brian Rice insists he is looking for his players to learn and kick on from their narrow defeat to Dundee United.
Rice said: “I think we were good for 95% of the time, the goals were good play from the opposition, but we have looked at it and we will learn from it.
“I expect us to kick on from here, walking about the place there is a bit more confidence this week. I’m hopeful this will give us a platform to go and try to get points on the board.”
Despite a narrow defeat Rice was pleased with the reaction of his side after the international break.
He said: “I took a lot of positives from Saturdays performance. I thought if I don’t make some changes nothing will change and we decided to try something different and I’m hopeful that will give us a foundation to kick on for the rest of the season.”
Rice believes his side can only improve as they become more familiar with the new system: “We had seven or eight days working at it. I had a meeting with the lads this morning and reminded them we aren’t going to get where we want to be in a week.
“This process will take weeks but it isn’t just about the system, it’s about what the lads give every week and on Saturday they gave their all. I couldn’t have asked for any more from them on Saturday.”
Rice also praised standout performer Hakeem Odoffin for his performance in the unfamiliar role of midfield: “I had a look about the squad at who could fill that role, we put Hakeem in there on Saturday and I thought he did really well.
“A club like ours needs players who are as versatile as Hakeem. Its the first time he has played in midfield and he was comfortable going into that position and that’s a credit to him.”
Ahead of a run of three home matches Rice and his side are looking to notch up their first home league win of the season. He said: “The most important thing is building on our performance from Saturday, we know Aberdeen are a threat going forward and we need to be able to deal with that defensively and by Wednesday we need to have a plan on how we can show our ability.”
Wednesdays match will be broadcasted live and exclusively on AcciesTV, priced at £15 and available via ppv.vincentc147.sg-host.com/login. Kick-off 7pm
