The board of directors have officially announced George Cairns will take on the Academy Director role for his dedication, hard-work and commitment to Hamilton Academical Football Club.
Cairns has been working with the club since 2005 and has been a huge part of the journey of many football players produced by Hamilton. Initially an academy coach, George has worked himself up to the role he’s now in with his passion and dedication to the game.
As a football club we’re renowned for not only developing players but our staff as well and George is a prime example of this.
Speaking highly of the Academy Director, Chairman Allan Maitland (who has previously held this role) said: “George is a magnificent character for this club to have, He’s involved at every level and and knows our core values inside and out.”
“We are delighted to highlight how important George has been to our Academy set-up & how important he will continue to be going forward as we continue to produce talent from our successful Youth Academy.”
Speaking to the website, George Cairns added: “I’m delighted with the support i’ve had over the years from our board of directors which makes my job that little bit easier knowing you’ve got the full backing of them with the trust & support they’ve shown me.”
“For me the job never stops, you’re always supporting the players at every level whether that’s on the park or off it, It’s a role you must live and breath and I’ve been fortunate enough to be a part of the success of the crops of talent produced by this club and the goal is to continue to do exactly that.”
