David Moyo 2023

The club is delighted to announce attacker David Moyo has signed a two-year contract
extension with the club that will keep him at Hamilton until at least 2023.

Moyo who joined the club little over a year ago from non-league St Albans quickly became a fan favourite last season following winning goals against Motherwell and Rangers.

Speaking exclusively to AcciesTV the attacker said: “I enjoy playing my football here and I’m really happy to have extended my contract. It’s security and I know I can play my football here.”

Head Coach Brian Rice shared his delight with the club’s website. He said: “I’m delighted to get David tied up, he deserves it, he’s a good character and his work ethic is fantastic.

“He’s scored a couple of important goals for us last season, he’s a fans favourite. It’s a reward for his hard work but he needs to keep that going and maintain that. I think there is a lot more to come from the lad.”

At 25-years-old Moyo could be considered to be one of the more experienced players in the Accies dressing room. However, the attacker is not phased by this extra responsibility. He said: “Naturally I try and help people where I can. If I know what someones going through I would help them out. If someone new here I will put an arm around them and help them out. It just naturally comes to me.”

Moyo becomes the third Accies player to have extended his contract beyond this season and Head Coach  Brian Rice believes this will give the rest of the squad a lift. He said: “I have a good dressing room there, there a good mix of youth and experience. When someone signs a new contract it usually spurs everyone else on and you have players chapping the door asking ‘What about me?’

“They have to earn it, the lads who have signed new contracts have earned it they deserve their contracts.”

Moyo will be hoping to get his first competitive goal of the season as we face Ross county. However, the attacker acknowledged this will be a tough fixture. He said: “It’s a massive game for us, it’s always a tough one against Ross County but we need the three points and if we do the right things I don’t see why we can’t do that.”
