Lee Kilday Interview.

We sat down with experienced defender Lee Kilday as he looks ahead to the end of the League One season, our last two games and looking to avoid the relegation play-offs.

There has been an upturn in both results and performances the last two games. Has there been a particular moment or discussion that you can put that down to?

“We knew we were in a dogfight and that we had to wisen up a little bit. After the Kelty game it was really disappointing, we had words together and I think since that game the performances have been completely different. A lot more fight, a lot more desire and that’s what we’ve needed going into these last two games.”

Two difficult games but two good results, just how important was that for both the league and the player morale after the last few weeks?

“Yeah it’s been massive. Getting the six points has really helped us and you can see the confidence in the group now. I think coming into these last two games, we need to go into them with the same mentality. We need to win both games, show the same fight and desire and hopefully it gets us the three points.”

From a defenders point of view, it’s also two clean sheets does that gives you’s a bit of confidence going forward?

“Yeah it’s something we’ve been speaking a lot about. We’ve been conceding a few goals recently that’s been hampering us whereas defensively our form at the start of the season was pretty good. But having the back-to-back clean sheets now has been massive for the defence but it comes from the full team that have been working really hard.”

Peterhead at the weekend, what do you expect from them?

“They are a good team, I know they’ve just missed out on play-offs but they’ll be looking for the three points on Saturday. They’ve got some really good players so we know it’ll be a hard game but we need to go out there and aim for the three points.”

We need other results to go our way but does it give you confidence that at least for the moment it’s in our hands?

“Yeah, it’s in our own hands. I know that East Fife have got Inverness and Cove have Kelty but we just need to take care of our business and see where that leaves us at the end of the day.”
