TEAM NEWS
Matthew Shiels is making good progress after he joined Shaun Want and Scott Martin in returning to first-team training this week as they step up their recovery from injury.
Head Coach Stuart Taylor said: “We’re in the best position since I’ve been at the club, in terms of player health. We have Marley who is still recovering as well as Shielsy, but Shielsy trained yesterday which was good to see, so we’re looking great.
“The club is in a good place in regard to injuries, which is a big thanks to our fantastic medical team.”
David Moyo is available again as he returns from international duty.
New signing Steve Lawson is eligible for selection
LAST TIME OUT
It has been just over a month since the last meeting between the two sides, where a Lewis Smith opener was cancelled out by a fairly quick second-half response from Ayr, resulting in a 1-1 draw, down at Somerset Park.
FORM
Accies come into this tie off the back of some decent form. Stuart Taylor’s side will be eager to continue that run after a narrow defeat to Dunfermline last time out and make it six out of their last eight games unbeaten.
Accies currently sit 6th in the table, just above Ayr Utd, so Taylor’s men will be looking to make home advantage count and pick up all three points
MANAGER’S NOTES
Stuart Taylor has remained focused on implementing a certain strategy and game plan to help build towards a greater improvement as the season continues.
He said: “We need to just concentrate on ourselves, which I keep saying every week. If we work hard, more often than not we will get the right results.
“We need to implement our creative style each week, but also remain disciplined out of possession and if the lads buy into that then the league table will take care of itself.”
