Hamilton Academical Football Club can confirm the signing of 19-year-old midfielder Ewan Simpson on a season long loan from English Premier League side Aston Villa.
The Scottish-midfielder who made the move South from Heart Of Midlothian when he was 16 years old, has made 28 appearances in the U18 Premier League and has represented Scotland at U17 level.
On the signing, John Rankin said: “Ewan adds more depth to our midfield and offers some versatility in that area whether it’s sitting deeper or pushing further up the pitch.
“He was one of the stand outs for Hearts 18s before he made the move to Aston Villa and needs an opportunity to show what he can do at this level.”
Speaking on joining the club, Ewan Simpson said: “I had a good chat with the manager about how he wants his team to play and how I play my part in that.
“I’ve been in training the last few days and the tempo is high and the boys set high standards so I’m looking forward to being involved this season.”
