Accies website reporter Louise Davidson reports from Saturday’s home win….

This weekend we were in search of another victory to take us to four wins from four, as well as another clean sheet, both of which we delivered. The line-up for Saturday’s game also remained unchanged from the win last weekend, which allowed striker Andy Winter to make his 99th appearance for the club.

With only three minutes on the clock, we broke the deadlock when a sublime high cross from Jamie Barjonas found Dylan Tait at the back post who was able to guide his header into the right-hand corner of the goal. This allowed him to open his account for the season with a goal that would secure us another three points in the league.

Dylan Tait was unlucky in the 34th minute when his shot from range was an easy save for the ‘keeper. Despite dominating possession in the first half this would be the best chance for us after the goal.

The second half would provide us with many more good opportunities to put the game to bed, but we just couldn’t capitalise on these chances.

The 69th minute saw a great cross from Murray find One open in the box with a chance that looked sure to be a tap in, but Gill was there to deny him his third goal of the season.

Arguably the best chance of the half came in the 77th minute when a slack back pass from Montrose allowed O’Hara to hare towards the goalkeeper for a one v one. O’Hara tried to round Gill to shoot into an open net, but the goalie’s outstretched hand pinched the ball away from O’Hara’s toes.

The final chance of the half came for us in the 90th minute when a fantastic through ball from Martin found Murray on the left-hand side of the park, but he poked his effort just wide of the post.

This win extended our current unbeaten run to nine matches.

Post-Match John Rankin stated, “I’m obviously delighted to get three points first and foremost. Near the end of the game I’m not too pleased that we are sweating at the end and feeling vulnerable.” He also stated, “Credit to the players and it’s another clean sheet so we have to move on.”

John also commented on the injury to Andy Winter stating “Andy’s foot is a little bit swollen, and the medical advice was to take him off in case he had fractured or broken anything, so he was on crutches immediately and he seems to be in a better place now than when he came off.”

The win  keeps us at the top of the league table with another clean sheet in hand. A clean sheet that goalkeeper Jamie Smith is “delighted about”. Smith also commended the players in front of him stating “they have been brilliant.”
