Hamilton are back at Broadwood on Wednesday to begin their Challenge Cup campaign against Motherwell B.
A brace from Connor Smith and goals from Trialist A and Steven Bradley sealed a fantastic 1-4 win at Palmerston Park which saw Accies make it two wins from two and catapult to the top of League One last time out.
Speaking ahead of the game John Rankin said: “There’s boys needing minutes and we need to make sure that we utilise the squad because as we know we’ve got a small squad so we have to make sure that we get that right. It’s in the cup and it’s a format we aren’t used to but it’s a game that we’re looking forward to and a game that gets more minutes into players and gets us ready for what’s going to be a long season.”
Connor Smith added: “It’s the same as every game, the games come quick and we’ll be back on
Monday, train Tuesday and then it’s straight back into it on Wednesday.”
Our visitors come into this match looking to better their previous Challenge Cup campaign where they exited in the group stage.
Wednesday’s game will mark the first time that these two sides have met, however, Accies do have experience in this type of fixture, defeating Dundee United B 4-0 at New Douglas Park last season.
After Wednesday night’s game Hamilton are back in League action the following Saturday as they take on East Fife at Broadwood.
