East Kilbride FC v Hamilton Accies | Match Preview

Hamilton are back on the road this weekend as they travel to K-Park Training Academy to take on East Kilbride in the Challenge Cup.

Hamilton were beaten 2-3 against Edinburgh City last time out in this competition despite leading the match twice. Most recently Accies played out a scoreless draw against Cove Rangers in league action last Saturday.

John Rankin speaking ahead of the match said: “We’ll need to have a look at the squad and make sure that we’re not pushing them too much, we need to have everyone available for the league. It’s an opportunity for boys to play and make an impact but we’re coming off a clean sheet and we need to go and build on that starting with the game against East Kilbride.”

Jamie Smith added: “We don’t want to look at it as just a cup game, it’s a chance for us to try and get flowing and if we can get the boys back playing and our rhythm going, I think we’ll be fine.”

Our hosts come into this fixture looking to bounce back themselves after losing 1-3 to Spartans at home last weekend.

Historically Accies have dominated this fixture winning all three of the competitive meetings between the clubs. The sides met most recently in October 2023 with Hamilton running out 2-5 winners on that occasion.

After Saturday’s trip to East Kilbride, Accies will travel to take on Peterhead at Balmoor Stadium in League One.
