Accies are back in action on Tuesday night as we make the journey to Fife to take on Dunfermline
Athletic in our 3 rd match in the premier sports cup group stage.
We’ve started the group stages with a win and a draw. We beat Stirling Albion, 2-0, with goals from
Jamie Smith and Kyle MacDonald at what was a sunny and hot Forthbank stadium. We then hosted
Heart of Midlothian at Broadwood where we were defeated 4-0 last Tuesday night.
Scott Robinson previewed the match saying “We’ll go there try get a positive result and performance
as well. We felt the Hearts score was a wee bit harsh, so we’ll go and try have a good performance
and result.”
John Rankin said, “We learned lots from the Hearts game and we need to take the positives ahead of
the rest of the group stages and the whole season.”
Dunfermline have also played two matches in the group stages, with an opening day defeat against
Hearts at Tynecastle before they travelled to the rock where they defeated Dumbarton 4-0. We won three of the four matches against Dunfermline last season with two wins at home and one away. We have the better record in the all-time head-to-head record with Accies winning 38 times to Dunfermline’s 37 wins in the 91 matches.
After Tuesday’s match, we host Dumbarton back at Broadwood on Saturday in what will be the final
match of the premier sports cup group stage, with the league season starting the weekend after.
