Where do we start? It’s been a whirlwind 10 days or so, but we want to express our honour and excitement to be custodians of this fantastic football club. As a group of lifelong football fans we have followed Hamilton for many years, and despite the challenging times it has had, we see this has a club with huge potential.
We wanted to take this opportunity to address a few prominent matters.
Firstly, there has been no agreement relating to the repayment of the loan from The Funding Globe. We had tried to make a reasonable arrangement prior to our takeover but it hadn’t been possible to date. However, we felt we had to take this moment to take ownership of the club to safeguard its future, and the livelihoods of those employed by the club.
Mr Towers has been stood down from his role and will have no further influence on club matters, and we will continue to engage with The Funding Globe to find a resolution, as we will with other club creditors.
As I’m sure everybody can appreciate this is going to continue to be an extremely challenging period for the club. It is important in the short term we put the processes and people in place to ensure the smooth running of the club, while having to make some very difficult decisions on and off field to ensure we can work towards financial stability. This is of the upmost importance and we ask for your patience while we rebuild.
Our on pitch performance right now is not a material concern. We want Darian, his staff, and players to just get back to enjoying their football, and give their all for the club. They will have the support of us as a Board, and I am sure of the fans and all associated with the club.
We are certain that if we can navigate the next few months, the club will have strong and sincere foundations to be something that all of us want it to be; a competitive and passionate football club, highly engaged in the community to make real social impact, with a thriving academy, women’s and girls provisions, and of course, playing back in Hamilton. We cannot build a community club if it doesn’t play in its own community.
There are no guarantees, except you will have a group of highly dedicated and passionate football people working within your football club to ensure we can be as successful as we can be.
From now until the end of the season your support is going to be so important. Please turn out in your numbers to show your appreciation to the staff and players that have shown such dedication in some tough times, and build some strong momentum going in to next season, regardless of what division we find ourselves in.
We will be as open and transparent as we can regarding the future of the club and plans we have in place, and we will strive not to let you down.
